Heliox gas storage installation cylinders pass periodic inspection and test in Chesterfield Special Cylinders’ Integrity Management team in situ operation

Chesterfield Special Cylinders’ (CSC) global Integrity Management team prides itself on saving its customers costly downtime by carrying out periodic inspection and tests on their high pressure gas cylinder installations wherever and whenever it is most convenient to the customer.  The IM team’s latest project was conducted on board a dive support vessel as it was docked in Rotterdam, resulting in all 32 of the ten-year old high pressure cylinders being passed for continuing service.

The heliox gas storage installation on board the 132-metre DSV Well Enhancer, owned by Helix Energy Solutions, underwent a full acoustic emission test and required minimum rectification by the IM team.  The installation can now continue in service for another five years.

Dan Nuttall, CSC IM’s deployment manager, says:  “Well Enhancer is a well intervention and saturation diving vessel equipped with high-end spec. Every moment of downtime is costly, so we dovetailed our task with when the ship was in dry dock for planned maintenance.”
